And The Winner Is....

This is the Image of Miguel Cotto when he fought Manny Pacquiao November of 2009.

This is the image of when he fought Mayweather last Saturday.

Here are some Compubox stats that compares both fights
Landed/Thrown
PACQUIAO v.s. COTTO
                                       Jabs                          Power Punches                  Total
Pacquiao                       60/220                            276/560                      336/780
                                       27%                                 49%                             43%

Cotto                            79/297                             93/300                          172/597
                                       27%                                 31%                               29%

COTTO v.s. MAYWEATHER

                                       Jabs                         Power Punches                    Total
Mayweather                    51/305                          128/382                      179/687
                                         17%                                 34%                            26%

Cotto                               30/177                          75/329                           105/506
                                           17%                             23%                               21%

Pacquiao  landed 157 more punches on Cotto than Mayweather landed on Cotto.
He landed 148 more power punches than Mayweather did.
and even though he threw 85 less jabs than Mayweather he landed 9 more than him.
All these stats were career low for Mayweather.
Is Cotto back? Is he that good? was the 147 catch weight that unfair on Cotto?
Was Mayweather baiting Pacquiao?
Is the looming jail sentence bothering  Mayweather we don' know.
People will blame the weight, performance enhanced drugs, or whatever they like
but the numbers don't lie.
Neither do the pictures.
MAYWEATHER FIGHT

 PACQUIAO FIGHT

Pacquiao won this weekend. Personally I think Mayweather is baiting him I don't understand how his overall connection percentage was at 26% Saturday Night.

  1. In most cases I would agree with Pacquiao beating the same opponents Mayweather has faced more impressively but this was different. As we all know Cotto was coming off his first and horrific lost to Margarito before facing Pacquiao. Not only that but then Margarito was later found cheating for loading his gloves. If you find that a theory then go look at Cotto's face after the fight had been stopped. Also, Pacquiao fought Cotto at 147 which seemed low for Cotto, so he drained himself to make weight. Which played a big factor in the fight. However, I still would go with Pacquiao in a 154 fight with Cotto. He probably wouldn't hurt him as much as he originally did. So, it's not fair to say Pacquiao beat up Cotto more than Mayweather when Mayweather fought at a weight Cotto was much more comfortable with. Lastly, it seemed like Cotto had his confidence back after beating Margarito in the rematch before facing Mayweather and seemed like he lost it when he first loss to Margarito before fighting Pacquiao. Therefore, comparing the two fights doesn't make sense.

  2. It does make sense. Both men fought the same fighter so it is only logical to compare their results against him. I know the weight, the training and all those minimal stuff factor in, but when does it end? Is it because Cotto had a new trainer? is Roach better than Roger Mayweather? was it because Cotto wore pink? Did Cotto's new tattoo's help? at the end of the day Pacquiao looked way better than Mayweather against Cotto.

  3. If you know boxing, styles make fights.
Mayweather clearly dominated Marquez and Pacquiao can barely even beat Marquez. Some say Marquez won the last showdown they had but that doesn't mean nothing. Mayweather and Pacquiao are two completely different boxers, so when they face the same opponents it doesn't matter who won more impressively as long as they both win.
